Animal Rahat’s education staff didn’t miss a beat in ensuring that children would still learn the importance of being kind to animals during school lockdowns. As teachers moved classes to their homes, the team provided educators with the resources to teach the Compassionate Citizen curriculum in other ways.
With safety measures in place, small groups of students gathered to learn that animals feel love, joy, pain, and fear, just as humans do. The children watched videos of animal rescues and engaged in lively discussion sessions in which they shared their own stories and asked questions regarding how they could best help animals. The lessons ended with the students joining the thousands who have already taken a “kindness pledge,” promising to do whatever they can to help animals and to remind their friends and family to treat all living, feeling beings with respect.
Animal Rahat also provided each child with a set of colored pencils to draw pictures showing ways to be kind to animals. The team is looking forward to seeing the students’ latest works of art—and to sharing them with its supporters who make this important program possible!
