Veterinarians spay and neuter village dogs at a pop-up clinic.
Dr. Rakesh and other veterinarians “spay” the day for gentle desi dogs.

To celebrate a decade of Animal Rahat’s Animal Birth Control program, the team has made good on its goal to sterilize 100% of the dog population in 10 villages in 2024—about 1,000 dogs. Between routine surgeries and a pop-up clinic in Dhongaon this month, staff prevented 132 dogs from creating more who would have struggled to survive. The veterinary teams also vaccinated 352 animals, protecting dogs from deadly rabies, horses from painful tetanus, and more.
